Camp BISBY: Three Ways to Make Friendship Bracelets

Camp BISBY: Three Ways to Make Friendship Bracelets

One of the best things about camp is the friendships that are made along the way. Whether camp is only a week long or it’s for a whole month, you’ll feel like you’ve known these friends for a lifetime. Playing all day, sleepovers, s’mores, swimming and hiking with your best friends. It really doesn’t get any better than that! To match the sweet and colorful #BISBYgirl’s spirit we’ve created a guide on three different ways to make bright and bold friendship bracelets for your best camp pals. Not going to camp this summer? This craft is also a great way to pass time on those lazy summer afternoons.

To match these colorful creations, we love the Floral Romper in Farmington Floral Pink and Farmington Floral Lilac.  This romper is a great piece to add to your camp packing list because it’s a one and done outfit for your #BISBYgirl. No need to stress about putting together matching outfits with The Flora Romper! The scalloped neckline and BISBY original floral pattern is just one of the features that makes this romper so great. Did we mention it has pockets?!

Another rainbow rendition that matches these spunky friendship bracelets are the Bow Shorts available in Blue Primrose and Marigold Primrose. These shorts feature an elastic waist with an adorable accent bow on the side. For added BISBY fun match your friendship bracelets to the blues, yellows, and oranges of these multi-colored shorts!

The Chinese Ladder Friendship Bracelet

This bracelet makes a twisted design that wraps all the way around the bracelet by using just one simple knot. One of the things we love about this bracelet is you can use as many colors as you want! The more colors you use the shorter the sections of each color will be. This technique is perfect for a beginner plus they can be made pretty quickly!

What You’ll Need

Embroidery Floss or Thread

Scissors

Tape

Directions

  1. Pick out 5-7 of your favorite-colored threads and cut each 14 inches long
  2. Leaving an inch of thread at the top tie a knot
  3. Choose one strand of floss and make a loop laying it across (from left to right) the other pieces of floss as seen above. It should look like a number four.
  4. Pull the string through the loop or the number four that you created like the photo above. Make sure to pull it somewhat tight.
  5. Repeat this process with the same color until you’ve woven about an inch to two inches of that color
  6. Then switch to the color to the left and repeat the same process
  7. Once you’ve created your desired length, tie a knot at the end of the bracelet

The Diagonal Friendship Bracelet

The friendship bracelet is a slightly more advanced technique for creating a friendship bracelet. The great thing about The Diagonal is if you know how to wrap The Chinese Ladder bracelet, you know how to wrap the Diagonal. Instead of wrapping the individual thread around every thread in The Chinese Ladder, you wrap the individual thread around each colored thread moving from right to left. The more colors you use, the thicker your bracelet will be.

What You’ll Need

Embroidery Floss or Thread

Scissors

Tape

Directions

  1. Cut 3-6 colors of embroidery floss about 24 inches long
  2. Leaving an inch of thread at the top of the bracelet tie a knot
  3. Pick up the thread on the fair right side hold the thread directly to the left tightly with the other hand. Take the remaining thread and fold it over the thread in the other hand that you are holding tightly, so it looks like a number 4
  4. Repeat this process on each individual string color from right to left until you get to the end of the row
  5. Pick up the thread on the far right and repeat this process
  6. Once you’ve created your desired length, tie a knot at the end of the bracelet

Alternating Half Hitching Friendship Bracelet

This technique is a fun way to make a quick friendship bracelet. It uses more thread than the other knots but creates a unique pattern that your closest friends will adore! For a true camp BISBY friendship bracelet, we suggest selecting pink and hot pink as your two colors. This technique may be a little tricky to get the hang of at first but once you have it down, this will be the fastest way to create a friendship bracelet.

What You’ll Need

Embroidery Floss or Thread

Scissors

Tape

  1. Cut 2 strands of embroidery floss about 5 ft long, fold in half and knot in the middle to make a loop. Secure with tape to a table or board.
  2. Cord 1 is on the left (both pink strands) Cord 2 is on the right (both blue strands).
  3. Use Cord 2 to tie a Half Hitch. A Half Hitch is tied by moving Cord 2 under the holding cord (pink)…
  4. …then over it, and back under Cord 2 on the right.
  5. Pull Cord 2 up to tighten. Keep the Cord 2 end on the right
  6. For the second knot, Cord 2 becomes the holding cord. Use Cord 1 to tie a Half Hitch by moving Cord 1 under the holding cord.
  7. Flip Cord 1 over Cord 2, then back under Cord 1 on the left.
  8. Pull Cord 1 up to tighten. Keep the Cord 1 end on the left when you are done. Continue to alternate back and forth between the two cords to form the rest of the bracelet.
